Urban Nature Walks: a guided opportunity for awareness and connection with nature in an urban setting.
Okra Abbey’s entrance gates are on Hickory Street and Eagle Steet and our community refrigerator faces Hickory Street. Okra Abbey is located on New Orleans Public School Property and the school’s address is 1800 Monroe St. Please be advised that Hickory Street is currently closed for road repairs and you may need to park a block or two away from the garden.
We will learn about the connections between the garden beds and the food we eat at the community table with Okra Abbey’s Lead Gardener Billie Golan. We will connect with neighbors and grow community while we work on growing fresh and nutritious food.
Please contact okraabbey@gmail.com if you can donate coffee supplies, snacks, seeds, or starts! Please contact nolasidewalkgardensandforests@gmail.com with questions about the urban nature walk.
