Fall Hike & Wagon Ride – Waldheim Mitigation Bank
November 2 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Land Trust for Louisiana will be hiking (and wagon riding!) at the Waldheim Wetland Mitigation Bank, near Covington, Louisiana. Ecologists Nelwyn McInnis and Latimore Smith will be on hand to point out several special wetland habitat types at this location, including a longleaf pine savanna and bayhead swamp.
After a short wagon ride, we will wander through a spectacular hillside bog full of carnivorous pitcher plants and other unique plant species, while discussing its ecological importance. If you’re interested in learning more about restoring native habitats, this is the trip for you — this area features a number of spots in different stages of restoration.
Tickets are $30 for adults, and $10 for accompanied kids, ages 6 and up. All ticket sales go towards supporting the conservation mission of Land Trust for Louisiana.
