Briarwood Bio Bash – Saline

August 2 - August 4

Guided hikes, workshops and presentations, and an iNaturalist BioBlitz. August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at Briarwood Nature Preserve 216 Caroline Dorman Rd, Saline, LA

  • Chris Richmond identify and cultivate local mushrooms
  • Linda Barber Auld learn to increase butterfly activity by adding a buffet of selected caterpillar host and nectar plants.
  • John Dillon how to identify birds like the pros!
  • Dr. Charles Allen all about edible plants.
  • John Michael Kelley will dive deep into the writings and collections by Caroline Dormon.
  • Louisiana Snake ID  our native snakes and their importance in our local ecosystems.
  • Bayli Brossette will give tours of the Log Cabin.
  • There will be guided herpetology, mycology, Etc hiked throughout the weekend.
  • At night, we will do some sheeting and view the moths that live at Briarwood.
All workshops will be indoors with minimal outdoor components. We welcome any and all ages to attend. There are minimal camping spots available.
