American Wisteria Wisteria frutescens is a native vine that occurs over much of the state in moist or wet woods, on river banks, and in upland thickets. It displays fragrant blue, purple, or white flowers April – August. American Wisteria is not aggressive like the non-native species. It provides support for native pollinators and caterpillars.
