Halloween Hike at “The Missing Link” – Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve

This year, the annual Fall Hike will be even more special with access to a premier spot at The Nature Conservancy’s Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve — “The Missing Link.” So named because this area ecologically falls between a hillside bog and wet pine savanna, it also includes bayhead swamp habitat with big pond cypress dated up to 700 years old!

This section of the Preserve is normally NOT open to the public — but it is for you!

What: 2 mile hike focusing on the native flora and habitats of the Abita Creek Flatwoods. Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and hunter orange.

Bring: hat, camera, binoculars, day pack, picnic lunch (optional). Snacks and water will be provided.

Tickets: $30/hiker. Includes access to a unique, non-public section of the Preserve, with an expert guide — biologist Nelwyn McInnis.
